Winda Energy is planning a wind park in Verkasalo, Alavieska, Kalajoki, and Ylivieska. The project area is preliminarily approximately 2,300 hectares and is located in the southern part of Alavieska, southeastern Kalajoki, and the western part of Ylivieska. Approximately 28-33 wind turbines are tentatively planned for the area. The final number and placement of turbines will be specified through discussions with landowners and the zoning process. In addition to zoning, an environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure will be carried out for the area.

  • 11/2021 – The city of Kalajoki has approved the zoning initiative for the Verkasalo project.
  • 05/2021 – The city of Ylivieska has approved the zoning initiative for the Verkasalo project.
  • 04/2021 – The municipality of Alavieska has approved the zoning initiative for the Verkasalo project.
