Winda Energy is planning a wind farm in Verkasalo, spanning the municipalities of Alavieska, Kalajoki, and Ylivieska. The project area is preliminarily about 2300 hectares in size and is located in the southern part of Alavieska, southeastern Kalajoki, and western Ylivieska. The draft zoning plan proposes 33 wind turbines. The placement of the turbines will be specified during the building permit phase. Alongside the zoning process, an environmental impact assessment (EIA) has been carried out.

  • 11/2021 – The city of Kalajoki has approved the zoning initiative for the Verkasalo project.

  • 04/2021 – The municipality of Alavieska has approved the zoning initiative for the Verkasalo project.
