Winda Energy Oy is launching the development of a data centre project in Rajakangas, Keminmaa. This data centre project is Winda’s second such initiative in the spring of 2026 , which it is co-designing in cooperation with Gi21 Capital, datacenter developer and operator. The goal is to develop a data centre with a capacity of approximately 100 MW — the investment is estimated at over half a billion euros.

“Sea Lapland’s power grid is very production-oriented, which creates extremely promising conditions for this data centre project. The strong renewable energy foundation in the region aligns perfectly with the growing demand for energy-intensive digital infrastructure”, commented Tuomas Hooli, CEO of Winda Energy, on the new data centre project.

During construction, the data centre will employ hundreds of people, and during its operation, approximately 30–40 local professionals. The municipality of Keminmaa will also benefit from the project through increased municipal, property, and corporate tax revenues, among other things, and will also receive income from the sale of the property.

Construction will begin in 2027, with the goal of completing the first phase of the project in 2028. An area of approximately 15 hectares in the Rajakangas industrial area has been reserved for the project.

The project is being implemented in European collaboration with Gi21 Capital, an investor and operator specialised in data centres.
